About Me

Jeffrey Maddox currently serves as an investment banking director at BMO Capital Markets in Houston, Texas, a position he has held since 2019. Maddox started at the company in 2017 as a vice-president. He also joined the SPAC Advisory Practice at BMO in May 2021 after previously serving in the energy group. A special purpose acquisition company is known as an SPAC, and focusing on SPAC transactions is a specialized field within investment banking. Maddox's years of experience left him uniquely qualified to serve in this capacity for BMO.

BMO Capital Markets is recognized and respected as a top worldwide financial services provider. The company started in Canada over 200 years ago and is still headquartered in Toronto with the Bank of Montreal as its parent organization. BMO Capital Markets maintains locations in a variety of major cities across the United States and globally to facilitate its corporate and investment banking services as well as research and advisory services.

Maddox's expertise acquired within BMO Capital Markets and in other roles led to his elevation to the SPAC Advisory Practice and director position. In SPAC Advisory, Maddox works with target companies on the sell-side and the SPACs on the buy-side. This includes maintaining ongoing dialogue with SPAC management teams and sponsors.

Jeffrey Maddox has worked at BMO Capital Markets since 2017. He served as a vice-president for two years, and was elevated to a director's role in December 2019, a position he still holds along with the added responsibilities of the transition to SPAC Advisory.

Previously, he moved from an associate role at Barclays Investment Bank to a vice-president position. He also served for two years as an associate with Clarkson Capital Markets in the Houston area. In this job, he focused on the maritime and energy services niche of investment banking. Additional positions after college included roles as an analyst and associate predominantly providing sell-side investment at GulfStar Group in Houston and in an audit associate role at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a top firm providing audit, advisory and tax services through a global network of firms.

The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business provided Jeffrey Maddox with his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Maddox earned his bachelor's degree in accounting in 2007 and his master's degree in accounting in 2008. He retains an active interest in his alma mater with frequent participation in sports and alumni events at the university.

Jeffrey Maddox's top skills are found in his chosen field of investment banking, but his years in the industry have led to greater specialization in specific areas. Top talents include financial modeling, financial analysis, valuation, corporate finance, private equity, investments, due diligence and financial reporting. He is well-versed in business valuation, mergers, capital markets, auditing and strategic financial planning. His knowledge of special purpose acquisition companies also led to his elevation to the SPAC Advisory Practice at BMO Capital Markets.

His consistent career has provided a wide range of experience across multiple areas of finance and investing, including industrials, real estate, renewable and traditional energy, healthcare, metals and mining, consumer, technology and ESG. Over one decade in investment baking also provided substantial experience with mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets and leveraged finance.
